Use Trial Commander inside Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Word.
Ask the AI subscription you already pay for about your own matters and deadlines. Work on a draft in Word without leaving it. Carry the file on your Android phone. One login, your firm’s permissions, and every call on the firm’s audit log.
Your AI reads your practice. It sees only what you can see.
Trial Commander speaks MCP, the standard way an AI assistant uses another program’s tools. Connect it once and a normal Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini conversation can look things up in your firm’s own records — “What deadlines do I have in the next two weeks?” answers from your matters, not from the internet.
On every plan, the free Starter plan included, the connector finds a matter and reads its deadlines, contacts, matter health and trial status — 5 read-only tools and 200 calls a month. On Gold, Platinum, Enterprise and during the free trial, the working connector adds notes, communications, the documents on a matter, time and billing.
Only the working connector writes, and only on a connection granted write access. Adding a deadline or a note, logging time or a call, drafting a document: these land on the matter directly, and each is marked as a write tool, so your AI asks before running one unless you choose to always allow it. A change to a record you already hold — a matter’s status or caption, a deadline’s date, an exhibit or witness — or a client intake link is not made when the AI asks: Trial Commander holds it on your Approvals page, and it happens only when you approve it there, within 30 minutes.
The connection acts as you. It reaches exactly the matters you can open, and an action that needs a permission you do not hold is refused, the same as it would be in the app. Every call is written to the firm’s audit log.
Every firm administrator is e-mailed whenever anyone in the firm approves a connection — who connected, which AI tool, the access granted and when. Settings → MCP Access lists every connection, with a one-click revoke.
Trial Commander recognises Claude, ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Any other AI service is refused at the approval screen until a firm administrator turns on Unrecognised AI tools under Settings → MCP Access. (A connector bridge running on your own computer is the one exception.)
Tool calls use your own Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini account, never the firm’s in-app AI allowance. Whether sending a given client’s matter into that service fits your obligations on the engagement is your judgment; the guides below cover it.
Three steps, about five minutes.
- 1Copy the connector address
The one line below. It is the same for every firm.
- 2Add it in Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini
Paste it where your AI adds a connector — the exact menus are below.
- 3Sign in and approve
Trial Commander opens its own sign-in. Sign in as you normally do and click Approve. Your AI never sees your password.
https://app.trialcommander.com/api/mcpSigned in to Trial Commander? Settings → Connect your AI shows this address with a Copy button, says which connector your plan includes, and confirms the connection once it lands.
In Claude
- In Claude (claude.ai or the Claude desktop app), open Customize → Connectors, press + and choose “Add custom connector”. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors.
- Name it Trial Commander and paste the connector address shown above.
- Claude opens Trial Commander. Sign in as you normally do and click Approve.
- In a new Claude chat, ask: “What deadlines do I have in the next two weeks?” The answer should name your own matters.
In ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
- Open Plugins, select the plus button, and name the new one Trial Commander.
- Under Connection choose Public endpoint, paste the connector address shown above, and create it.
- Sign in to Trial Commander when asked and click Approve. Then, in a new chat with Trial Commander switched on, ask about your deadlines.
Whether you can add a connection depends on your ChatGPT plan and, in a workspace, on what your administrator allows. OpenAI lists full support on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web. Menus there change often; the full guide has the details.
The full ChatGPT guide (PDF) →In Gemini
- In the Gemini app at gemini.google.com, signed in with a personal Google Account, open Customize → Connectors and choose “+ Custom”.
- Enter the connector address shown above as the MCP server URL and click Next.
- Gemini opens Trial Commander. Sign in as you normally do and click Approve. The app then works in the Gemini web app and the Gemini mobile app.
- In a new Gemini chat, ask: “What deadlines do I have in the next two weeks?” The answer should name your own matters.
Google offers the custom connector in the Gemini app only to a personal Google Account (not a work or school Workspace account), to people 18 or over in the US, with Keep Activity turned on, in English; if + Custom is missing from your Connectors page, one of those is the reason. Google Gemini is one of the AI tools Trial Commander recognises, so no firm switch has to be turned on first; the approval screen names the Google address the approval goes back to. Work and school accounts use Gemini Enterprise instead: a firm administrator creates the firm's own connection under Settings → MCP Access → Gemini Enterprise. The full guide has the details.
The full Gemini guide (PDF) →Trial Commander’s listings in the Claude and ChatGPT directories are in review. Until they are published, adding the address as above is the way in — and it is the same connector. In Gemini, the custom connector is the way in.
Gemini Enterprise
Google does not offer the custom connector to work or school accounts in the Gemini app. A firm on Gemini Enterprise connects Trial Commander as a custom MCP server instead, and a firm administrator sets it up once for the firm.
- In Trial Commander, a firm administrator opens Settings → MCP Access → Gemini Enterprise and clicks Create connection.
- Trial Commander shows a client ID and a secret. The secret is shown only once, so copy it then.
- Paste both into Gemini Enterprise’s Custom MCP Server setup.
The connection belongs to your firm: only your firm’s members can sign in through it, and each of them sees only the matters they can already open. The administrator can rotate the secret or revoke the connection at any time from the same page.
Word, Outlook, your phone, and the MCP Registry.
A Trial Commander group on Word’s Home tab and a tab of its own: save the open document to a matter, fill one of the firm’s templates, insert the caption block or a Brief Bank citation, compare against the last saved version, log time in one click, and finalize. The AI tools in the pane follow your plan.
Get it from Microsoft AppSource and sign in inside the pane, or have your Microsoft 365 administrator deploy it to the whole firm — Settings → Office Add-ins in the app has the steps.
Log an email to a matter, attach a document from the matter while you write, find the deadlines an email names and add them, and log time for it. As a message goes, a send check warns you if an outside recipient is not a contact on the matter the others are on, or if an attachment is a document the matter keeps as privileged — a warning with Send anyway one click away, never a block. The send check needs the add-in deployed by your Microsoft 365 administrator.
Available in Microsoft AppSource: add it there and sign in inside the pane, or have your Microsoft 365 administrator deploy it to the whole firm from Settings → Office Add-ins in the app.
Trial Commander on your Android phone: your matters, deadlines and calendar, with the same sign-in and the same permissions as the web.

com.trialcommander/trial-commander
The entry names the same connector address, signed in with OAuth. Any AI tool that reads the registry can find it there; tools Trial Commander does not recognise still need a firm administrator to allow them.
